One Chart, Twelve Clocks: How Cosmitra Reads Your Timing

First, the explainer
A is a planetary period: a stretch of your life ruled by one planet, which sets the theme of that season. Think of your birth chart as the map and your dashas as the clock. Two people can hold nearly the same map and still live completely different years, because their clocks read different hours. In Vedic astrology, timing is not a detail. Timing is the point.
Here is the part almost nobody tells you: the classical texts do not describe one clock. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, the foundational manual of this tradition, lays out many dasha systems, each with a precise rule for when it applies to a chart. Most apps implement exactly one, Vimshottari, and call it a day. We implemented the deep bench.
The everyday read: two classic lenses
When you open a chat, Cosmitra reads your timing through two lenses every serious astrologer starts with: your , the 120-year master cycle keyed to your Moon's , broken into major and sub-periods, and your current , where the planets are moving today relative to your chart. For everyday questions, what is this chapter about, when should I move on this, these two give a grounded, precise answer. This is the default, and it is free.
The deep read: all twelve systems
The other systems, , , , Chara and the rest, are conditional: each switches on only when your chart meets a specific classical condition, a particular placement of , a certain , a birth in a given fortnight. The 12-System engine checks every rule against your chart, keeps only the systems that genuinely apply, and reads them alongside the classic lenses.
Why this matters is simple, and it is the oldest trick in serious Jyotish: agreement is evidence. One system pointing at a window is a suggestion. Three independent systems, each triggered by a different classical rule, pointing at the same window, that is a signal you plan around. And when the systems disagree, that tells you something too: the window is genuinely ambiguous, and patience beats force.
What the deep read looks like
For each applicable system you see why it applies to your chart, the period you are running, and where the systems line up. Blurred here, because it is computed live for your own chart:
Ashtottari Dasha
Yogini Dasha
Kalachakra Dasha
Chara Dasha
The 12-System engine is part of Cosmic Seeker and above, and it also powers the deep timing sections of the complete report.

- Everyday questions, mood of the month, how to approach a conversation, small decisions: the 2-System read. Fast, grounded, always on.
- High-stakes timing, a move, a wedding date, a career change, a launch: the 12-System read, to see whether the conditional systems reinforce the window or warn you to wait.
The honest fine print
Every period Cosmitra cites is computed by our engine from your exact birth time and place, sidereal, degree-precise, never invented. The engine decides which systems apply by the classical rules; it will tell you when a system does not apply to your chart rather than pretend it does. That restraint is the feature.
